JARVIS PROVIDES AFFORDABLE HOMES FOR LUTON

Jarvis of Harpenden will shortly commence the construction of 15 homes on the former Barnfield College site in Charles Street, Luton.

The project will provide much needed affordable homes to rent for the local community. Jarvis will be using their Modern Method of Construction (Jarvis MMC) system of building. This approach to construction not only increases on-site efficiency but also improves the quality, minimises waste and reduces the construction period over traditional building methods.

The six-month contract will commence in September 2007 and will provide 15 houses including six 2-bedroom houses, seven 3-bedroom houses and two 4-bedroom houses. Valued at approximately £1.3 million, the scheme is due for completion in February 2008.

Steve Cook, Managing Director of Jarvis Contracting, said of the project: 'We are pleased to have been awarded this development by Aldwyck Housing Association, which demonstrates that the Jarvis MMC System provides a cost-effective, modern solution to the problem of creating affordable housing.'

Jarvis has extensive experience of working within the housing association sector and has successfully completed building projects for partners throughout the Home Counties and North London areas.

Jarvis Contracting Limited is a division of the highly respected Jarvis Group of Harpenden, a building, developing, M&E and property maintenance organisation.
