Charity Skydive

In 2018, Mike Peters, CEO of Jarvis Homes, was introduced to Ebony, who suffers from Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T), a complex genetic condition which hides in the DNA and isn’t revealed until two carriers of the gene have a child together. Ebony has a list of activities she would like to complete, one being a skydive.

Mike, along with 28 colleagues, joined her in the charity fundraising event for the A-T Society. Thanks to the generous donations from friends, family, colleagues and clients, over £25,000 was raised

Charity Walk

The Jarvis Group are proud to have chosen Cancer Research as our charity for this year’s annual walk, as having particular significance to a number of our staff. We headed for the Peak District on 8th June with a record 25 members of staff committed to the challenging ascent. Setting out from Edale in a 12-mile circular route, we crossed part of the Pennine Way and peaked at 619 metres (2032ft) at Crowden Tower before our descent via Jacobs Ladder. We raised over £3,000 for Cancer Research UK!

Scholarship

We are delighted to announce that local student Louise Donohue is the latest recipient of the Jarvis Centenary Scholarship. Louise was one of two students tying with top UCAS points on entry to the University of Hertfordshire, and provided a winning response as to why she deserved the scholarship above her rival.

Now studying a BSc Sport and Exercise Science, Louise wrote ‘I cannot express how grateful I am, that you have chosen myself to receive the Jarvis Centenary Scholarship. When I received the news, I quite literally jumped with joy! Thank you for choosing me, I just cannot believe my luck.’ We wish Louise all the very best!

Sleep Out

In January we participated in a sponsored sleep-out at our Kylna Court site in Hemel Hempstead, in partnership with Dacorum Borough Council’s Youth Tenant Involvement Group. We helped raise £1,000, which far exceeded their expectations. The money raised went to their chosen charities, of the OLLIE Foundation, and Herts Young Homeless, helping make a difference in the lives of the youth of Hertfordshire.
