Serving our local community
As a well-established local contractor and one of the largest private employers in the area, we take seriously our engagement with the local community, both within the town in which our offices are located and the locations of each of our projects. We strive to be good neighbours and fully support the Considerate Constructors programme.
Work experience is supported by our 7 CITB Construction Ambassadors, and can be provided either on site or at our headquarters. We try to support our staffs’ family members and local colleges, leading to us offering permanent employment to a number of the students. Where possible and with the client’s consent, we aim to maximise the employment and training opportunities on each project and form links with local community initiatives.
Since our centenary in 2005, Jarvis Group has provided an annual bursary to the University of Hertfordshire to nurture local talent. The gift provides a scholarship of £2,000 a year to a student, who is selected for the highest academic achievement and living in the Harpenden area. In 2017 the criteria for students was extended to include the LU1 and LU2 postcodes.
If you would like to apply for a scholarship, please contact the University of Hertfordshire on 01707 284000.
This year's scholar is Aiza Hayat, currently in her first year, studying Interior Design & Architecture within the School of Creative Arts.
Thank you so much for this opportunity and support. This is such a huge incentive for me and will excel me to thrive and work even harder to achieve my full potential and beyond. I have a huge admiration for Creativity & interior design.I would like to work for a well known Interior Design firm where I can explore different ideas about interior design and architecture and further my knowledge & Skills.
