Residential care homes rely on our round-the-clock service for emergencies and repairs. Care homes across Hertfordshire trust our experienced team with their building, heating, plumbing and electrical maintenance requirements.

What work do we do?

  • full service and building maintenance programme
  • repairs to gas and ventilation systems
  • plumbing
  • electrical work (eg PAT testing)
  • renewables (eg solar panels, low enegy lights etc)
  • water hygiene services
  • testing for the Legionella bacterium
  • replacement of boilers, cylinders, tanks, light fittings and alarm systems
  • all other M&E services
  • emergency cover.

What are the particular challenges faced by care homes?

  • Residential care homes typically have a high demand for energy which can be expensive.
  • It is particularly important to ensure that supplies of hot water and heating are uninterrupted, for health and safety reasons. It is also essential that the comfort of elderly and infirm residents is not compromised.
  • Care homes require inspections from regulatory authorities to ensure that the conditions are satisfactory. If the conditions are inadequate, a notice could be issued for closure.

How can Jarvis help solve the above challenges?

We can create a package for you to cover all essential requirements. This will include the following:

  • free building and energy health checks
  • providing a detailed report highlighting potential areas of savings
  • around the clock service for maintenance and emergencies
  • checks and preventive maintenance
  • servicing of plant items (eg the boiler, light fittings etc)
  • three monthly checks for Legionella
  • all our work is documented in log books, that will be kept at the care home, to comply with legislation

What are the benefits to the customer in using Jarvis?

  • We offer a fast-response service for emergencies, aiming to reach you within an hour due to our local proximity.
  • You will have one point of contact with us – someone you can rely on to take care of your needs.
  • We offer continuity of care, whenever possible, so that you will develop an ongoing relationship with our staff.
  • By bringing us in to maintain your services, the number of emergency call-outs should drop.
  • You will have the security of knowing that you are complying with current legislation, and can continue to provide a first-class, comfortable service for your residents.

How much would a maintenance contract cost?

We can tailor a package specifically for your requirements. The exact cost will depend on the level of service that you need and the size of your care home. Rates start from £300 a year for a simple boiler service.
