Environment.
The Jarvis Group recognises that care for our environment is a primary corporate responsibility. Jarvis is committed to providing good working conditions for its employees and to minimising pollution and waste of natural resources through good management practice at all levels in the organisation with the aim of continually improving its environmental performance.
Practice
In the course of its operations the Jarvis Group will endeavour to: |
|
- Make its staff aware of unsafe practices and issues affecting health.
- Design systems that are attractive both internally and externally and which enhance the environment.
- Ensure that no known hazardous or deleterious materials are included in the building process.
- Ensure all employees are made aware of and adhere to the groups Environmental Policy
BREEAM ASSESSMENTS
BREEAM assesses the performance of buildings in the following areas:
- Management
- Energy use
- Health and wellbeing
- Pollution
- Transport
- Land use
- Ecology
- Materials
- Water
The measures that Jarvis can take to help achieve the required goals are to:
- Assist the design team in the selection of building materials, in particular looking for low-energy use.
- Select sustainable materials from suppliers who have the relevant certification.
- Employ local suppliers and labour to reduce transport cost and COČ omissions.
- Use the BREEAM Green Guide to specification in the selection of all building materials. This takes into account quality, durability and replacement costs.
- Use colour-coated skips for recycling the waste materials on site. We would also use, where possible, recycled materials.
